About the Event

Authorization to Sell Chametz

5780/2020

We the undersigned, whether by our own hand or by authorization, give permission to Rabbi Mathew Marko to sell any and all chametz and chametz mixtures belonging to us, (which are enumerated in the general deed of sale) which belong to us or are in our possession on Erev Pesach 5780, also all chametz which might come into our possession throughout Passover; and all food which becomes chametz during Passover; either in our homes or in any other location.

We also give permission to Rabbi Marko to sell or lease all houses, courts, stores, yards, animals, barns, cellars, attics, warehouses, garages, and storage-places and all vessels and utensils in them, according to the conditions of the general deed. We agree to abide by the estimate of Rabbi Marko, even if he should underestimate the true worth of our property, and agree to hold her harmless, even if she should act against our interests.

We agree to allow Rabbi Marko to treat the entire amount due us from the buyer as a loan, with responsibility for the property devolving upon the buyer even before he makes payment.

When and if the balance owed to us shall be paid, it is agreed that each of us will receive the value of the chametz and property sold or leased, according to the reckoning as prescribed in the general deed; except that if the sale shall not be completed, then any down payment that the buyer makes toward this purchase shall revert to the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund.

To indicate our acceptance of these terms, we have affixed our names, the date, and the addresses and locations of the chametz we wish to sell.

Mindful of the tradition of giving Ma’ot Chittim, charitable contributions to help others observe the holiday, I enclose a contribution to the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund.
