Judaism is definitely NOT a spectator sport. It is a "full-contact", inclusive, team activity. As such we encourage lay-leadership in all aspects of our services. The Hebrew term for prayer leader is Shaliach Tzibur, or SHa'’TZfor short. This simply means acting as agent or emissary for the community. Anyone and everyone is welcome to take their turn in this wonderful mitzvah. Even if you have no interest in leading, you may wish to use these pages to become more familiar with the words and tunes, adding more meaning and ease to your own personal prayer experience.
